Souper Duper

Souper Duper

Souper Duper is a Dartmouth, Nova Scotia restaurant with a long history of serving simple, homemade soups and sandwiches to the Sullivan's Pond community.

When Hossain Al Shahariar Shikhon, a Bengali refugee, took over the business, he wanted to make sure he was continuing to serve the community the same way Souper Duper always had. But he needed a full brand refresh, as their historical branding was no longer serving them.

Custom checkerboard patterns evoke diners past and present.

Having worked in signage and print, I was ready to get him not just the designs, but (arguably more importantly) the print files he needed, including menus, signs and interior design strategy, We decided to feature the Sullivan's Pond geese, a famous feature of Dartmouth, as mascots, blending modern illustration with a retro diner feel.
